We have a non-commercial project (for fun, not profit) to build an app for people who would like to share home brewed beer. The project was started as a Batchelor’s project by 3 students who produced an excellent Batchelor’s report in December 2017 and a working Android version. We are looking for a new team to continue the project with a view to finishing and releasing it to the beer-brewing public. The original interactive design for the App is in Invision: https://invis.io/6KB1XPDYV#/225989596_Startup_Splash_ScreenSee also the Delingsøl Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/281657155602551/

Phase 1 Deliverables:The team researched the market and developed a backend based on Firebase. The App is written primarily in C# using Xamarin for Android in Visual Studio. The implementation includes Facebook login, Beer XML/Json for recipes and Google Map API.

Phase 2 Opportunities and Requirements:

  1. Add messaging capabilities between users.
  2. Complete development of the Android version.
  3. Develop the iOS version (we can provide access to virtual Mac if required).
  4. Research: how to open source the App so that the community can continue to develop and support.
  5. Testing and usability improvements.
  6. Add the ability to swap home grown yeast cultures.
  7. Research the requirements for privacy (GDPR) and security and develop the recommendations for these into the App.

As a project it combines backend development with cross-platform app development. The combination of C#, Xamarin and App development is a highly marketable combination for students looking for jobs after university. The project mentor is Andy Harrison, an experienced product manager and CTO from software startup companies, now working at Egde Consulting next to the university in Grimstad. This is an opportunity to have some fun, taste our homebrews, learn some new coding skills and also show off your talents.

We have a non-commercial project to build an app for people who would like to share home brew.

I have created an interactive design for the App in Invision: https://invis.io/6KB1XPDYV#/225989596_Startup_Splash_Screen

It is all planned to be non-commercial and for fun, not profit. Development of this app would be an excellent student project for those interested in app development (and maybe a taste for good beer).

As a project it combines some backend development (e.g. cloud mobile services, a simple database or a or a Firebase approach), app development preferably cross-platform, and multi-language (it could be an opportunity to use .net/C# knowledge on Xamarin, or HTML5 with Ionic or other similar frameworks such as React Native or Angular) and integration of some APIs (Facebook, google for sign-up/login, and the google for mapping).

The project mentor is Andy Harrison, an experienced product manager and CTO from software startup companies, now working at Egde Consulting next to the university in Grimstad. This is an opportunity to have some fun, taste our homebrews, learn some new coding skills and also show off your talents.
