COMUNICA is currently looking for an in-house translator, who has recently graduated and is interested in working as a freelancer and being part of our in-house team. This a a freelance translator opportunity at Danish- owned translation agency COMMUNICA in Málaga.

We can offer you a position in the intense and very dynamic translation industry. You will receive training in the industry’s most innovative CAT tools and gain valuable experience of what it means and takes to work as a professional translator.

Your primary function will be to carry out translation projects from English into your mother tongue, but there is also an opportunity to practise other skills like for instance writing skills with copywriting tasks.

Working as an in-house translator is an excellent opportunity to hone your translation skills and gain valuable work experience as well as create networks and achieve coherence between theory and practice. You will be working alongside experienced translators, who can teach you the ropes and pass on valuable experience to you.

In addition to interesting and challenging work tasks, you will receive a thorough introduction and continuous training by our experienced employees. You will also be trained in memoQ and SDL Trados Studio, the two market leading CAT tools in the industry, which you will work with daily. In addition, you will be working in a young and vibrant working environment with good opportunities to get involved in many interesting and exciting tasks. Examples of tasks: Translation tasks (mainly from English into your mother tongue), proofreading and copywriting.

Who should apply?

We prioritise recent graduates, who have studied Translation and Language Studies and who are interested in starting a career as a freelance translator. Applicants should be native speakers of one of the Scandinavian languages and have focus on the English language.


It is a minimum requirement that you have familiarised yourself with the common grammar and spelling rules of your mother tongue.

General information:

    • Duration of position: As long as you wish but minimum 3 months
    • Intake: As soon as possible.
    • Housing / lodging: You are responsible for finding your own

      accommodation, but COMUNICA is happy to assist with this process.

    • Payment: By agreement. Payment would be at a reduced rate per word compared to the standards in the industry.

COMUNICA's dedicated translator database consists of more than 300 professionals.
We have several years of experience with interns from various European countries. Each year we employ 3 internal language specialists as translators to, and proofreaders for, their mother tongues. Our five highly professional project managers manage all the of the many translation projects that we receive each day. COMUNICA translates an average of 15,000-20,000 words every day.
