Amanda Margaret Machin

Professor

Political Sociology

Amanda Machin is a political sociologist with a specialisation in environmental politics and​ radical democracy. After completing her PhD at the University of Westminster, London she moved to Germany to take up various positions at the Institute of Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) in Potsdam, Zeppelin University, Friedrichshafen and the University of Witten/Herdecke. She is interested in the dynamics, identifications, imaginaries, discourses and bodies of socio-ecological transformation and she has published numerous articles on these topics with journals such as Environmental Politics, Environmental Values , WIREs Climate Change and Democratic Theory. Together with Marcel Wissenburg, she is currently editing a collection on Environmental Political Theory in the Anthropocene for Edward Elgar. Amanda is on the advisory board for Environmental Politics journal and on the editorial review board of the Global Epistemics book series at Rowman & Littlefield International.
