Torbjørn Bjorvatn
Associate Professor
Torbjørn Bjorvatn has a Bachelor degree in political science, Russian and Soviet and Eastern Europe area studies from the University of Oslo, Norway, and a Master degree in International Business from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration in Bergen, Norway. In 2018, he defended his doctoral degree in International Management with the thesis «Complexity and the international context as antecedents of team performance».
During 2018-2019, Torbjørn Bjorvatn worked as a senior researcher at NORCE Social Science in Kristiansand, Norway. In addition, he has several years' experience in project and programme management internationally.
Based in the Department of Working Life and Innovation at the School of Business and Law, Campus Grimstad, he teaches in the field of project management, organisation and leadership. His research focusses on organisational project management.
Forskning
Torbjørn Bjorvatn is an active researcher. One central topic is so-called organisational project management, where he considers the interaction between the project and its base organisation in a project-supported (matrix) organisation. This research draws on the fields of strategy, innovation and organisation science. Much of Torbjørn Bjorvatn´s research has an international dimension. Previously, he has used survey studies extensively and analysed these statistically using partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). Currently, he works mostly on conceptual studies and case studies.
